The Battle of Mbombela awaits, and tickets are few and far between

The Battle of Mbombela is beckoning. Only four weeks are left until the Springboks face off with Los Pumas, and the chances to grab tickets are becoming slimmer by the day.

We are now only a month away from the Springboks returning to Mbombela Stadium for their clash with Argentina, and tickets are on the verge of selling out.

Two years after they rocked the All Blacks in the city, the Springboks are making a highly anticipated return to Mbombela Stadium when they take on Argentina.

The match will be played on September 28 at 17:00, and 90% of the tickets have already been sold.

This means we are now firmly at the last chance saloon for the public to purchase tickets for the Battle of Mbombela, and considering the fact that the Bokke are undefeated in Mbombela, you’d really want to make sure you’re there.

The Springboks last faced Argentina at Mbombela Stadium all the way back in 2016, when the South Africans treated the crowd to a 30-23 win. This is only one of four test matches that the Springboks have won in the capital of the Province of the Rising Sun.

Other than the triumph over Argentina in 2016 and the beating of New Zealand in 2022, the Springboks have also beaten Wales and Scotland at Mbombela Stadium, in 2014 and 2013 respectively.

There will be a very special feel about the looming test against Argentina in Mbombela, as 11 years ago, captain Siya Kolisi made his debut at Mbombela Stadium in the test against Scotland.

Now, 11 years on, he will return as a double Rugby World Cup-winning captain of the Springboks, a feat that no other South African captain has ever been able to achieve. With the All Blacks yet to come, the Springboks have had a good start to the 2024 Castle Lager Rugby Championships thanks to two convincing wins over Australia.

This is only all the more reason why you should be quick to grab one of the few remaining tickets. Stadium management has also ensured that even when rugby isn’t being played, things certainly won’t be dull, as a surprise entertainment act is being organised for the day.

A traffic management plan has been developed, but there will once again be park-and-ride options available to the public.

They are also placing a huge emphasis on safety and security at, in and around the stadium.

The match promises to be one for the books, and knowing Mbombela, things definitely won’t fall short of that mark at all.
