Nelspruit Shooting Academy shots on target at Mpumalanga Trials

The youngster will compete in the national championships

Nelspruit Schools Shooting Academy will be well represented in the South African Schools Air Rifle Championship which starts today and concludes tomorrow.

A function was held at The Vintage Lapa next to the gun range at Canary Walk last Thursday to honour the children and their achievements.

Stefan Keller, Jorette du Plessis, Frans Joubert, Rudolph Botha, Marjoné Joubert, Anton van Niekerk and Jandré Joubert competed in the Mpumalanga Trials recently.

“These kids kept aim on the goal even through lockdown and Covid-19-related issues. They were all invited to the Mpumalanga Trials for SANSSU 3P shooting,” said Lawrence Baird, owner of Nelspruit Schools Shooting Academy.

“Except for Rudolph, they all shot Mpumalanga finals and obtained Mpumalanga colours. They will now shoot SAs and for places in the SA team.”

Marjoné is 11 years old and shoots in the u/14 league. Anton shot a gold medal in Mpumalanga finals u/14. Jandré is currently ranked first in Mpumalanga u/14, a remarkable achievement.

“Nelspruit Schools Shooting Academy is very proud of these shots and is looking forward to the SAs. The children have achieved exceptional results after many hours of dedicated practice. We invite all kids wanting to learn, sharpen skills or partake competitively,” said Baird.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, all shots will compete in the SA Championship from their home range.
