For the fourth consecutive year, Christo Carelsen was the the winner of the Nedbank Imvelo MTB Classic.
Toughest race on tar kicks off today
It was held at Mlilwane Game Reserve in eSwatini this past weekend. He won the race in a time of 3:08:14. He also beat his previous best time, which he set last year, to set a new record for this race.
More than 400 riders competed. Carelsen said the Imvelo MTB Classic was one of his favourite races due to the scenic route and challenging climbs. He stated that he was grateful to beat his own personal time.
Christo wins the 2019 Demacon Max Wax MTB Series
Carelsen is also the title holder of the 2019 Demacon Max Wax MTB Series. This event raised funds for community and conservation projects linked to Big Game Parks.
It showcased Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary as a wonderful outdoor destination for families.
Mountain biking as a sport is definitely growing in eSwatini, as more and more locals participate each year along with the many international riders from as far as France and Germany.
