Mini-hockey, a pure learning curve

Penryn Preparatory and Laerskool Nelspruit hosted a number of independent schools at a mini-hockey festival on Saturday. 

Events like these create tough game situations where players are forced to maintain possession and think under pressure, to make effective decisions and moves – an ideal learning environment.

When these game situations and concepts are tested on the larger field, the young players feel as if they have more space and time to perform the skills effectively.

They also develop a better understanding of the game and how to read it and make intelligent decisions.

Mini-hockey is a vehicle which facilitates more touches on the ball, encouraging passing and receiving.

The emphasis is on the development of the players and no scores are recorded.
