It will also serve as a selection tournament for the South African Championships to be held in December, and possibly for the international tournaments too.
On Saturday Uplands Preparatory hosted the Solo Dança Latina Competition. Gold medalists automatically qualify for SA Champs.
Rhythm Image Dance Studio’s Daniela Bezuidenhout is the current South African Classic Champion. She is ranked number four in South Africa in the senior division. Kirsti Addison is ranked second in the senior category, while teammate Lulutho Makaula is fourth for juniors.
Lulutho made a clean sweep at the Solo Dança Latina Competition as she bagged three gold medals in the junior youth new kids classic, junior intermediate Latin as well as in the junior intermediate energy respectively.
Kirsti also danced her way to three first-place finishes in the professional classic, professional Latin and in the professional energy category.
Hoërskool Bergvlam’s Leandrie Botes took gold in the youth intermediate, intermediate/entry champ Latin and youth intermediate energy classes. Leandrie is currently the country’s 19th-ranked dancer.
