This year the event boasted a Disney theme, with players dressing up in tutus, adding flair to the exciting event aimed at u/13 netball teams from across the Ehlanzeni District.

The annual Uplands College Netball Fast5 Festival saw 12 teams competing for the top spot this weekend.

She said although most of the participants weren’t too familiar with the Fast5 format of the game, Uplands, through the Fast5 Festival, seeks to create a platform for young players to learn the rules of the game.

“It’s important to set down the ground work now, at a young age, as Fast5 netball is becoming a big deal in our country,” said Motau.

She added that although the aim of the festival was to have players from across the district engage in fast, clean fun, the games also allowed coaches to get their players ready for the upcoming netball season.
