Soccer lovers can learn from the best

The White River United Soccer Development has experienced tremendous growth since its inception in 2013.

Dean Matthew, with the assistance of TK Kwari, Jarred Matthew and Collin Ndlovu, is on a journey to develop and hopefully perfect the soccer skills of hundreds of local players.
“Currently we have a club of more than 200 kids and a network of over 1 200. The past year we have handed out new and used kit, balls and boots, to the value of R80 000,” Dean said.

In April 2013 White River United Soccer Development was established, starting with trials at Ingwenyama Lodge for an u/12 VW team.
Since then they have developed tremendously with the help of White River Primary, with the school allowing them to use their fields to practice on every Friday.

Uplands College has also been generous in allowing players to use their fields for matches and practices for the senior teams. In April Dean went to Rio for further training in the Tetrabrazil Soccer School curriculum, which is geared at developing children from toddlers to u/18s.

Its structured and methodical approach to development allows ongoing input through skills-development, fitness, team building and ongoing evaluation of the individual players, and the players integration into a team system.
During the past week they hosted four one-day soccer clinics at Penryn, Uplands College and Riverview Prep.

“It is my desire to place coaches in schools and communities, provide equipment and clothing to kids who need it most. We are training two young people in the Tetrabrazil programme, TK Kwari and Jarred Matthew. I wish to thank Mr Roy Kwari and Mr Collin Ndlovu for their tireless support as coaches,” said Dean.

Players meet every Friday from 13:30 until 15:45 at the White River Primary School fields for children from six years and up.
