Chef and owner of Heart for Food, Ntswaki Mahata, shared her recipe for a one-of-a-kind home-made pizza for readers to enjoy.
This is also a fun way to keep the kids busy for some time, while making one of their favorite meals.
“I helped my siblings and my son with the dough, but allowed them to be part of the chopping process. I made sure the knife was not too sharp and they could hold it correctly,” Mahata said.
She allowed them to add their own toppings and shape their own dough.

Method
Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
In a medium bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand until it is creamy, for about six minutes.
Stir in the flour, salt and oil. Beat until it smooth. Let rest for five minutes.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat or roll into a round shape. Place it on a lightly greased pizza pan or a pan with baker’s peel, dusted with cornmeal.
Cover with desired toppings and bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until it is golden brown.
Let the pizza cool for five minutes before serving.
