#MeToo: Journalist speaks out on sexual harassment

How about being a man?

Dear Sir,

It is not okay for you to touch my bum. It is not okay for you to comment on my breasts or my body.

Sexual harassment can be a verbal comment or unwanted interaction with a sexual nuance.

After an unpleasant trip down memory lane, journalist Helene Eloff jotted down memories of gender discrimination and sexual abuse. This happened in school, at university and in boardrooms she had visited as a working woman.

It happens everywhere – from Hoedspruit to Hollywood.

Speaking of Hollywood…

Harvey Weinstein is an American movie mogul.

He was recently accused of having sexually abused actresses, including Oscar winners Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow.

He denied it.

Soon after the allegations surfaced actress Alyssa Milano asked her followers to post “Me Too” if they had ever been sexually harassed or assaulted.

#MeToo started dominating the online space. Hundreds of thousands of women came forward, stating that they had been sexually harassed.

How are you reacting to #MeToo?
