From a roadblock at Rocky Drift where stop-and-searches were conducted to visits to spaza shops to check compliance, the multidisciplinary Operation Basadi saw high-ranking SAPS officials in the Ehlanzeni District roll up their sleeves and lead by example. Operation Basadi is a nationwide SAPS operation that highlights the role of women in law enforcement while putting in the hard yards to make communities safer. While numerous non-compliant spaza shops were closed down and undocumented foreign nationals were detained, the detectives also went after perpetrators of crimes against women.
