Fetakgomo Tubatse mayor pays unannounced visit to Dresden road project

It is expected that the road will be completed before August 2025.

The Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality’s (FTLM) mayor, Eddie Maila, said he was satisfied with the progress on the Dresden road project in Burgersfort.

Maila made an unannounced visit to Dresden on October 3 to monitor the progress. The FTLM is currently hard at work building a 2.7km stretch of road at the village. This project started in July.

According to Maila, the access road is expected to be completed within 10 months. The project will see the road upgraded from gravel to asphalt.

Maila said visits such as these are to ensure that contractors do not sleep on the job and miss deadlines. “We came here to make sure that this community will receive this road within the allocated timelines, especially with the approaching rainy season. As Fetakgomo Tubatse, ours is to make sure that we don’t rest until service delivery reaches all corners of the municipality.”

The Dresden road is expected to be completed in the next 10 months.

Maila also cautioned that any challenges should be escalated to his office and that communities must refrain from disrupting projects, as this will delay delivery.
