Valencia Wholesalers, the dream of every dressmaker, hosted a sewing class on Saturday August 24.
Women from all over Mbombela came together to learn from a local fashion designer, Christi van der Berg, about how to sew using various machines and to make all sorts of clothing items.

They were also taught how to measure themselves and how to cut fabric to make a wrap skirt.
The classes’ organiser, Colleen van den Bergh, said the main purpose is to target anyone who wants to learn a new skill, whether it is sewing, embroidery, knitting or crocheting.

“It is not just any ordinary class. We want those who attend it to start their own businesses as there is a market in the clothing industry. The classes will run throughout the month until the end of September, during which different skills in sewing, embroidery, knitting or crocheting will be taught,” she said.
