The Vuka Mfati Foundation and Siboshwa Traditional Council joined Roots Butchery to honour strong women on Women’s Day.

Roots Butchery, in partnership with the Vuka Mfati Foundation and Siboshwa Traditional Council, hosted a prestigious Women’s Day event at the Block B community hall on August 9.

Women young and old showed up in their beautiful traditional regalia. They were treated to a delicious beef stew, courtesy of Roots Butchery.

“We have also donated hampers to 10 families as a way to celebrate Women’s Day with them. We are grateful to have been afforded the opportunity to help change the lives of the people one step at a time. Seeing all the women here enjoying their day and knowing that we have somehow also contributed to that was very heart-warming,” said Roots Butchery manager Daniel Ponte.

The Vuka Mfati Foundation’s founder, Indlunkulu Linono Ngomane, has called on all the women to unite and take back their power. “The name ‘Vuka Mfati’ translates to ‘woman, wake up’. Perhaps it is time that we come together as women to take up space. We need to visibly take up space in whatever corner that we are. Women are the pillars of our families, but we go beyond that. We have careers and leadership roles in society, and it is time that we unite and continue to work hard for the betterment of society,” said Ngomane.
