The Thaba Moshate Hotel Casino Convention Resort in Burgersfort continues to invest in education.

As part of its corporate social initiative (CSI) projects, the casino donated school shoes to more than 90 learners of Mosebu and Mahlashi primary schools.

The handover ceremony, which was part of Thaba Moshate’s Mandela Month celebrations, was organised at the casino’s Ebandla Room on July 25, and was attended by the casino’s management, as well as the schools’ management and teachers, and the Limpopo Gambling Board teams.

It has been our absolute pleasure to help these pupils. We brought smiles to the young ones. We’re proud to be part of bringing that positive change

Speaking during the handover, Thaba Moshate’s general manager, Philisiwe Gumede, said supporting local communities and offering opportunities to young people to improve themselves was something the casino placed substantial emphasis on. She said Thaba Moshate wanted to give the learners confidence to go to school and warmth during the winter season. “It has been our absolute pleasure to help these pupils. We brought smiles to the young ones. We’re proud to be part of bringing that positive change.

“The donations will make a huge difference in the lives of these learners. These kinds of initiatives are not only about donating school shoes, but also leading by example and supporting the learners as they are the future leaders. We value education and the well-being of the children.”

Robert Marobane, Mahlashi’s principal, and his counterpart at Mosebu, Morwangoato Tshukudu, thanked the casino for these massive donations. “We would like to thank you for the gifts. They are surely going to make a difference in the kids’ lives. We thank you for working with us in building the future of the learners.”

These donations were not Thaba Moshate’s only CSI project for the month. On July 18, it donated food items and kids’ goodies to the Push and Reach Movement located in Riba Cross. This organisation provides voluntary afterschool care to children.
