A festival of flavour: Food and Wine in the Wild held in Skukuza

Locals and people from outside the region come in large numbers to taste the food and wines.

Food and wine lovers gathered in large numbers to attend the Food and Wine in the Wild Festival held at the renowned Kruger Station Restaurant in Skukuza Rest Camp on Friday 5 and Saturday July 6.

Attendees sampled wines from some of the most prestigious vineyards across South Africa. From the rolling hills of Stellenbosch to the sun-kissed valleys of the Cape Winelands, each sip told a story of passion, dedication and the unique terroir that define the region’s winemaking heritage.

Wineries in attendance included Rust en Vrede, AA Badenhorst Family Wines, Quoin Rock Wine Farm, Knorhoek Wine Farm, Arendsig Hand-crafted Wines, Dalla Cia Wines and Eikendal.

Food enthusiasts were also dazzled by the vibrant flavours of traditional and local cuisine. From spicy peri-peri chicken to melt-in-your-mouth bobotie spring rolls, each bite was a testament to South Africa’s rich culinary landscape.

“The turnout was beyond our expectations as we had locals and people from outside the region coming to sample the food and wines.

We look forward to welcoming guests again next year. I would like to thank everyone who took their time to attend the festival. Without them, the festival would not have been a success,” said Gavin Ferreira, the general manager of the Kruger Station Restaurant.

An exclusive wine-pairing dinner was also held in the historic Carriage 7 at Kruger Station on the Friday evening to showcase the wines to festivalgoers.
