Youngsters enjoyed a day of fun, food, and activities at the Nkomazi Plaza and Driekoppies Dam.

Roots Butchery in Nkomazi hosted a fun day to commemorate Youth Day on Sunday June 16, at Nkomazi Plaza and Driekoppies Dam simultaneously. The event was marked by fun activities and good food, all in the spirit of bringing youngsters together and paying homage to the youth of 1976.

The event was held in partnership Noxman Aerobics Club, owned by Mr Mpumalanga 2024 finalist, Norman Mahlalela.

“Youth Day holds immense importance as it celebrates and acknowledges the contributions of young people in their communities. It serves as a vital platform to address and bring attention to the various challenges and issues faced by the youth, such as unemployment, education and health. By highlighting these concerns, it encourages seeking solutions and making policy changes that can improve the lives of young individuals.

“Today was just about coming together to ensure that our history remains preserved and that we pay respect to the generations who came before us. The people of Naas and Schoemansdal came out in their numbers to make the event a success,” said Mahlalela.

Roots Butchery manager, Daniel Ponte, with mascot, iNkunzi, and the soccer team during the event at Matsamo Mall.

His partnership with Roots Butchery started while he was still in the race for the Mr Mpumalanga title, and it has since yielded good results in benefitting community members.

“Our partnership started in 2023 when Mahlalela came to us and presented the objectives of Noxman Aerobics Club. Together, we have since donated food, school uniforms and blankets to needy families around Nkomazi. This partnership also seeks to bring projects that will benefit and bring unity to the community of Nkomazi,” said Roots Butchery manager, Daniel Ponte.
