Primary school leaders renovate busy walkway

Recognising the need for action, the prefects of Laerskool Lydenburg took it upon themselves to address this issue head-on.

The prefects of Laerskool Lydenburg managed to transform the walkway along Eeufees Street thanks to the proceeds from a box-cart day held on May 17 at the school’s sports field.

Through this initiative, the school not only improved the infrastructure of the area but also demonstrated the power of collaborative efforts in creating positive change in the community.

The project was completed in partnership with the Lydenburg/Mashishing Business Chamber (LMBC).

This busy street in Lydenburg has long been in need of renovation. The uneven and unpaved walkway posed a safety hazard to pedestrians, especially schoolchildren who frequently use it.

Recognising the need for action, the prefects of Laerskool Lydenburg took it upon themselves to address this issue head-on. Through strategic outreach efforts, they rallied the support of local businesses and residents to contribute to the project.

The response from the community was overwhelmingly positive, with individuals and organisations eager to lend their support.

With the necessary funding secured, the learners wasted no time in getting to work. They enlisted the expertise of local contractors and volunteers to carry out the pavement work, ensuring that the project was completed efficiently and to the
highest standards.

The transformation of Eeufees Street has been nothing short of remarkable, thanks to the youth taking the first steps.
