Nelspruit Hawks seek man in connection with murder of off-duty police officer

The Mbombela-based Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit is calling on the public for information on the whereabouts of Blessing Fakude. A warrant of arrest was recently issued for him, for his alleged involvement in the murder of an off-duty police officer, Captain Sibusiso Mthombothi.

The KaBokweni Magistrate’s Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of Blessing Fakude, who is one of two suspects in the murder of an off-duty police officer, Captain Sibusiso Mthombothi (44).

Mthombothi was shot and killed at a KaNyamazane car wash on January 13.

Another man, Jacky Sibusiso Ntiwane (35), was arrested in KaNyamazane on March 20 as a suspect of Mthombothi’s murder and appeared in the KaBokweni Magistrate’s Court on March 22, facing charges of murder.

Ntiwane appeared again on April 4 for a formal bail application, but he abandoned his bail and the matter was postponed to May 10 for further investigation.

The provincial Hawks’ head, Major General Nico Gerber, is urging Fakude to come forward. He is also appealing to the community for any information regarding the whereabouts of Fakude.
