Mbombela jewellery shop robbed in broad daylight

The suspects got away with some watches estimated at R60 000 and cellphones worth R100 000.

The Nelspruit police are looking for two suspects who robbed the American Swiss at the Promenade Centre in Mbombela on Thursday April 11 at 10:00.

According to a spokesperson for the Nelspruit Police Station, Constable Bongani Mokoena, two black men stormed the shop, held the employees up at gunpoint and demanded money from them.

“They instructed the employees to open the safe. They took jewellery, mostly wristwatches, at an estimated value of R60 000, and cellphones at an estimated value of R100 000,” he said.

Mokoena added that the suspects fled the scene on foot with the stolen property. No one has been arrested yet. He also said no one was injured, and no shots were fired. A case of armed robbery has been opened.
