Spectacular classical concert at Skukuza Golf Course aims to raise funds for conservation

An exclusive concert organised by the SANParks Honorary Rangers and Innibos Lowveld National Arts Festival promises to provide a unique outdoor experience.

The SANParks Honorary Rangers and Innibos Lowveld National Arts Festival will host a classical concert, Classics in the Wild, at the Skukuza Golf Course on April 12 and 13.

The concert will start at 17:00.

This follows the success of the sold-out concert in the Kruger National Park (KNP) in March 2023.

The SANParks Honorary Rangers is a public benefit and non-profit organisation and SANParks’ official volunteer programme. Its members have a passion for conservation and give freely of their time and resources to raise funds and provide support for conservation projects in South Africa’s national parks.

This exclusive concert will feature members of the acclaimed Apple Green Orchestra under the direction of Tim Roberts, joined by the delightful young soprano, Sinesipho Mnyango. Roberts is also the director of the Johannesburg Bach Choir, conductor of the Randburg High Community Orchestra and artistic director of the St Francis Music Festival held at St Francis of Assisi Church in Parktown each May. He is an experienced musician himself, as member of the wind section of the Phoenix Ensemble, under direction of Richard Cock, who will take joint responsibility to compile the programme for the Kruger concert.

The orchestra will perform works of Strauss, Mozart, Bach, Puccini and Brahms, as well as some of modern composers such as Elton John, Gershwin and even ABBA.

Limited VVIP packages, which include a special three-hour Kruger experience prior to the concert, are also available at R1 950 per person for April 13 only. There will be a cash bar at the venue. The event is available to the public as well as guests who will be in the KNP on April 12 and 13. All guests must make use of the arranged shuttle services to attend the concert, which will be held on the Skukuza Golf Course.
