Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court postpones trial of hit-and-run accused

On March 1, Johan Louwrens’s legal representative asked for a postponement. This was granted, however, the magistrate emphasised that the trial would continue on April 26.

Johan Louwrens’s trial was set to continue on March 1.

His Legal Aid attorney advised the court that he could not represent Louwrens as he had made a double-booking and also had to represent another client, said the Mpumalanga National Prosecuting Authority’s spokesperson, Monica Nyuswa.

She said the magistrate emphasised that the trial would continue on April 26, with or without legal representation for Louwrens.

Louwrens was charged with culpable homicide of Letisia Niemann on December 8, 2021.
