Two arrested in Buffelspruit for dagga possession

In a recent vehicle control checkpoint near Malalane, the SAPS seized a total of 5.75kg of dagga with a street value of R 24 150.

Two alleged dagga dealers were arrested on the R570 at Buffelspruit on February 25.

The SAPS was conducting a vehicle control checkpoint. During this operation, two suspects were apprehended by the border police on separate occasions.

The individuals were found in possession of about 5.75kg of dagga with an estimated street value of R24 150.

At around 14:30, the first suspect, a 27-year-old woman, was found with 3.4kg of dagga valued at about R14 280.

Later that same afternoon, at about 17:45, the second suspect, a 31-year-old man, was arrested at the same location. He was taken into custody for possession of 2.35kg of dagga with an estimated street value of R9 870.

Both suspects were believed to have appeared in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court on February 26. Questions concerning the outcome of the court proceedings were send to a provincial police spokesperson, Captain Magonseni Nkosi, as well as the Mpumalanga National Prosecuting Authority’s spokesperson, Monica Nyuswa. However, their responses had not been received at the time of publication.
