Barberton man’s bakkie hijacked in Mbombela

The incident took place early this morning, February 23, and has been reported to the Nelspruit SAPS.

A Barberton local, Rafiq Islam, was hijacked in his Isuzu KB 250 on the corner Dr Enos Mabuza Drive and R104 near Nelsville at about 04:50 today, February 23.

“I was stopped by two unknown suspects as I turned into a fresh produce market to make a delivery. The suspects came out from a car I could not recognise.”

He said he was threatened with firearms to get out of the car. They drove off with his vehicle. It is white in colour and has the registration number HSB 903 MP.

According to the Nelspruit police spokesperson, Captain Zandile Gqawa, no arrests have been made yet. “Anyone with information can contact Lieutenant Colonel Hendry Vilakazi on 082 469 2341,” she said.
