SPCA Nelspruit urgently needs donations of pet food from community

The high admissions at the SPCA Nelspruit have resulted in a critical need for pet food, despite the generous donations that had already been received.

The SPCA Nelspruit urgently requires animal food, as it has admitted 522 animals since the beginning of 2024.

The chairperson, Lize Pienaar, mentioned that as of February 13, the monthly admissions have already reached a high of 127.

Despite donations from local businesses and community members, there is still a critical need for food. Pienaar specifically requests assistance with dry food for adult dogs, puppies, adult cats and kittens. Additionally, wet/soft food is appreciated for the young kittens and puppies in their care.

She urges the community to provide support, emphasising that every donation, no matter how small, is appreciated. Donations can be delivered to the SPCA Nelspruit at 6 Meidlinger Street, or contact the centre on 013 753 3582.

On February 25, a fun dog show at Friends Café will promote animal welfare. Animal lovers can showcase their dogs and compete in up to five categories, with a chance to win a gift for themselves and their furry friend. The entrance fee is R30 and a bag of dog or cat food, which will be donated to the SPCA Nelspruit.
