Community rallies for support after house fire claims the lives of pets in Mbombela

On February 2, a house in Hunter Street, Mbombela, burned down. The community is now coming together to support the grieving family in their time of need.

On February 2, concerned Lowvelders alerted the community to a tragic incident after a house in Hunter Street in Mbombela was destroyed in a devastating fire earlier that morning.

Seeking support for the affected occupants, some Lowvelders rallied the community together.

O’Brian Collins and his mother, Amanda, who were the tenants of the now-destroyed house, experienced significant losses.

The fire, which consumed the property, also claimed the lives of their cherished dogs, Rover (one year old) and Dixie (three months).

Heartbreakingly, the remains of the beloved pets were discovered near a window, indicating an attempt to escape the flames.

In response to the tragedy, the Nelspruit SPCA promptly arrived and removed the remains of Rover and Dixie.

The community now stands united to extend support to O’Brian Collins and Amanda as they navigate through this challenging time.
