Robbery at Hazyview’s Kuka Café

In a harrowing incident at the Kuka Café, five masked gunmen stormed the premises, shot at a security guard and robbed some of the employees. The SAPS is actively investigating this case.

The Hazyview SAPS is currently investigating a business robbery at the Kuka Café, a restaurant and cocktail lounge.

On the morning of January 23 at about 06:12, the complainant, a waitress at the restaurant, noticed five masked suspects with firearms fighting with a cleaner. She alerted her colleagues, suspecting a potential robbery.

About five suspects entered the premises and shot at a security guard. Once inside, they held the staff up at gunpoint, instructing them to lie down. After collecting approximately R6 000 in cash and cellphones, the suspects fled the scene.

The injured security guard is recovering in hospital.

No arrests have been made yet. The SAPS is actively investigating a case of robbery and attempted murder, according to a provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli.
