Heartache for two families before Christmas in the Hazyview area

In one of the cases, foul play is suspected, while the other body was found in the Sand River.

The bodies of two women were discovered, one in the Sand River at Kamajika outside Hazyview last Wednesday, and another in Masoyi outside White River on December 18.

In both cases, police investigations continue. Foul play is suspected in one of the cases.

According to a provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, Mampi Nelisiwe Shiba (37) was found in Chochocho in Masoyi, not far from her home.

The police and paramedics were summoned. Her family identified the victim on the scene.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that there was foul play, and a murder charge was filed after an original inquest case was opened, but was later changed after additional information surfaced. No one has been arrested so far,” said Mohlala.

Meanwhile, the naked body of another woman, identified by her family as Patience Mokoena (37), was found in the Sand River. Preliminary investigations suggest no foul play, but the investigation continues.
