Christmas comes early for underprivileged children at Katoen Informal Settlement

The main aim of the donation organised by the Help Foundation was to ensure that these children could also have a blessed Christmas.

Christmas came early for some destitute kids when the Help Foundation Mpumalanga donated gifts and food to them at the Katoen Informal Settlement on December 2.

According to the organisation’s founder, Elize Ohlsen, more than 50 kids from around  and parts of Mbombela benefited from the initiative. The main aim was to ensure that children from poor backgrounds could also have a good Christmas.

“We went around during the year asking for donations from local businesses to assist us to give presents and food. Some of the businesses responded positively and ensured these needy children also have a good festive season. We are still going to source more food for the kids and their families for December and January, because we know these are difficult months,” she said. “Some of the children are at home without food and will not understand why. We are asking for donations so that these children can eat during the holidays.”

Ohlsen thanked all the sponsors who came to their aid with donations. She is also calling on more businesses to come forward and assist
where they can, because these kids need food and clothes, not only at Christmas, but on a daily basis.

Anyone who wishes to donate may contact Ohlsen on 084 774 8780.
