The Green Lizard Guest House and The Pub teamed up for a charity drive to support the SPCA Nelspruit during The Pub’s regular quiz night on November 29.
The goal was to collect donations such as dog and cat food, blankets and anything that can make a difference for the animals at the shelter. According to one of the organisers, Mart Marais, R16 300 had been collected between the Green Lizard and Mediplus.
“The rest of the funds were raised at The Pub, and the big total was approximately R34 000. We also auctioned off one of our deluxe rooms for a weekend at the guest house.”
She said as businesses, they realised they were a part of the community and had to give support to make a difference.

“We try to support various charities throughout the year, and when we saw the SPCA Nelspruit was drastically in need of food, relying on the community’s help, we decided to support our four-legged friends. This was our opportunity to step in. Everyone at the Green Lizard and Mediplus are animal lovers and always try to rescue or help all kinds of animals where we can.”
Many Lowvelders attended the quiz night, and some brought dog and cat food to donate.
