Register ahead of election day in 2024 in Lydenburg

The countdown to South Africa's 2024 national and provincial elections has begun.

The national election registration weekend has arrived. The registration stations in Lydenburg, and in the rest of the country, will be open on November 18 and 19 from 08:00 to 17:00.

All South African citizens aged 16 years or older can register to vote, but to vote you need to be 18 or older.
The registration points in Mashishing and Lydenburg will be the same venues where voters cast their votes during the previous elections. These include the TVET College, the community hall in Ext 2, the Thaba Chweu Local Municipality town hall, and the old sports hall next to the new AstroTurf in Long Tom Street towards Laerskool Lydenburg.

To register, you need either a green barcoded ID book or an ID smartcard, or a valid temporary ID certificate.
You must also provide an address or description of where you live so that the Independent Electoral Committee can place you in the correct ward and voting district. No proof of address is needed.

Register to vote, or check and update your registration address online at registertovote.elections.org.za.
South Africa’s 2024 elections must be held between May and August next year.
The exact date will be announced by the president early next year.
