According to the organiser, Monique Bornman, it was well supported in its endeavour to create awareness about the different types of cancer and to educate the public about the importance of regular checkups for these often terminal diseases.

“Our main focus as CANSA is leading the fight against cancer in South Africa by enabling research, educating the public on cancer risk reduction and providing quality care and support services to the community. The run was aimed at covering all these, because we want people to get help in the early stages of the disease,” she Bornman.

She added that the run was a success as they reached the target. Bornman also believed that the event had a meaningful impact on those who attended, to take cancer seriously and support the organisation to continue doing the job it is doing.
