Murder case of German tourist near Kruger Park set for trial next year

The three accused of the murder of a German tourist in Numbi were served with the indictment at the KaBokweni Magistrate's Court.

The trial of the three accused of killing a German tourist, Jörg Schnarr, is set to begin in 2024, from July 22 to August 2.

This was ruled by the KaBokweni Magistrate’s Court during their appearance today, September 29.

Joseph Nyalunga (35), Marshall Cebo Mamba (38) and Bongumusa Fortune Matsane (25) were also served with the indictment.

They face charges of murder, attempted murder, attempted hijacking possession of a firearm and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

According to the Mpumalanga spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority, Monica Nyuswa, the case has been transferred to the Mpumalanga Division of the High Court for the trial.

The fatal shooting occurred on October 3, 2022 on the Numbi road outside White River.

Four German tourists were attacked by a group of unknown men who were driving their own vehicle.
