Young and old enjoy a splash of colourful fun at Nelspruit Primary

This year, Kabouterland Learning Academy was able to hold its annual colour run fundraiser for the first time since Covid-19.

On September 2, the learners, parents and teachers of Kabouterland Learning Academy held their annual colour run at Nelspruit Primary’s sports grounds.

The morning kicked off with the little ones performing a song and dance, followed by each class doing their own war cry – from the Squirrel Class (two- to three-year-olds), right up to the Grade Rs in the Snow White Class.

No one was excluded from this colourful day, with even the three-month-old babies in the Sleepy Class sitting up and moving along to the rhythm of the songs, with the help of their teachers, of course.

After the learners had enjoyed their time in the spotlight, the parents took part in some competitions of their own, including best dressed and a waddle race for the pregnant mummies.

But all the mornings’ proceedings were long forgotten after the first clouds of pink and blue powder filled the air. While running, jumping, crawling and most of all laughing through various obstacles, the learners, parents and teachers threw hands of coloured powder at one another.

“Our annual colour run has always been a major fundraising get-together on our calendar. It felt great to be able to host such an event for the first time since Covid-19 protocols were in place. It is so heart-warming to experience the support of our Kabouterland families as well as the local community,” Jennifer Grobler, the principal of Kabouterland, told Lowvelder.

“Monkeynastics, Soccer Starz, Playball and Build’em Brix helped to create exciting obstacles, adding to the fun of the day. “Their help and support made a great addition to the obstacle course,” Grobler said.
