Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM)’s mayor, Eddie Maila, recently donated 30 pairs of school shoes to pupils of Dikgageng Primary School in Ward 29, Ngwaabe.
This is part of the continuation of the mayoral programme of donating school uniforms to needy pupils in the FTLM.
This programme is expected to continue at other schools within the municipality.
“We call upon councillors, employees of the FTLM, ward committee members, and members of society to join this campaign. No child in this municipality should bear the harsh weather conditions by going to school without shoes and a jersey,” he said.
Since his inauguration as mayor of the FTLM in 2021, Maila has handed shoes and school uniforms to more than 200 pupils in the municipality.
The school management team at Dikgageng applauded the mayor for the initiative. Pupils ululated and sang as they received the new shoes.
