Shingwedzi not accessible to day visitors during part of SANParks week

For the duration of the 26th Baroque in the Bush event hosted in Shingwedzi, this rest camp will not be accessible to day visitors during the annual SANParks week.

SANParks has notified guests that Shingwedzi Rest Camp will be hosting the annual Baroque in the Bush event from September 11 for 10 days.

This is during the same time as the annual National Parks Week. For the Kruger National Park, the dates are from September 15 to 22.

Shingwedzi will not be accessible to day visitors during the Baroque in the Bush period. This is a long-standing arrangement the park has with the Mondi Group, as they have exclusivity to the camp for the duration of their stay.

“As tourism, we will prepare for additional seating and braai facilities at Punda Maria EE Centre, Babalala and Pafuri Day Visitor Site to cater for the influx of visitors. It will also be arranged with the shops to set up temporary facilities at these sites to offer basic retail commodities,” the notice read.

According to the Baroque in the Bush website, this year’s event will be the last in the Kruger.

“Join us for our final Baroque in the Bush. This will be our 26th year, and it’s been a blast!

“Baroque in the Bush is a sublime three days of baroque concerts at Shingwedzi in the Kruger Park, featuring 16 musicians from the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra under the direction of South Africa’s favourite maestro, Dr Richard Cock,” the website reads.
