IN PHOTOS: Curro Nelspruit puts on panto perfection

Curro's pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Suspects, was full of love, hate, betrayal, loyalty and more, all the ingredients for a stellar show.

The kids and the audience loved it, and the director was beaming with pride – Curro Nelspruit’s pantomime delighted all.

This year’s instalment was dubbed Snow White and the Seven Suspects.

The question on everyone in Nelspruitonia’s lips? Who killed Snow White?

Aside from the quality of the performance, what made this year’s stand out was the fact that the script was written by a Curro Nelspruit alumni, Mateo Komlosy, and refined by the show’s director, Nicola Brits.

It was full of love, hate, betrayal, loyalty and more, all the ingredients for a stellar show. And there was no short supply of humour. The cast executed their parts with skill and wit. Brits said there were moments they even had to rein in the creativity, because the children were bursting with ideas to add to the show.

From the menace of an Evil Queen and her apprentice, Goldilocks, to Rapunzel and the Hunter’s love story right through to the dancers and every other character, each offered an endless source of entertainment; so much so that you’d notice and appreciate something new each time you watched the panto.

Brits said the production was a success. “Not because of impressive ticket sales, music notes that hit, characters that were perfected, cutting wit that was appreciated, dance routines nailed or wins from all the technical and backstage teams; it was a success because this group of kids felt seen – felt they actually belonged. This is why we do it. The fact that audiences loved it so much is just a lovely bonus.
