Woman arrested near Malalane for alleged possession of unlicensed firearm

A woman appeared in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court after she was allegedly found to be in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Nothando Mhlanga (20) was arrested in Buffelspruit near Malalane on Thursday evening, July 20, and appeared in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court on Monday July 24 on charges of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

A whistle blower had given the police a tip-off that a woman in the area was in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

A provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, said a Schoemansdal police detective who was on standby, received the information and proceeded to the house where Mhlanga was staying.
