Another addition to Care for Wild rhino family

March saw another rhino calf rescued and taken to Care for Wild Rhino Sanctuary.

Care for Wild received a new family member on March 27 and she is adjusting to the environment just fine.

This according to Petronel Nieuwoudt of the sanctuary.

The calf, thought to be around 13 months old, arrived after having been next to her mother.

Care for Wild thanked Dr Peter Buss of the Kruger National Park for acting so swiftly in rescuing the calf.

Since the latest baby’s arrival, it had been all hands on deck for the care staff. Nieuwoudt said she is doing very well. They released her into an area with some of the other calves.

“She walks in and out and she calls to the others. These are all good signs. She is back with her own species, with friends who can speak rhino language.”

On top of this, the youngster does not have any wounds, Nieuwoudt happily confirmed.

“She is a beautiful little baby.”
