Three organisations partner to commemorate World Water Day in Mbombela

Their aim is to focus awareness on water preservation and conservation, and they call for clean water and sanitation for all.

The Greater Riverside Biodiversity Initiative (GRBI) is pleased to partner with Netafim and Green Valley Estate to promote water preservation and conservation in commemoration of World Water Day.

The initiative aims to raise awareness of the importance of responsible water usage and to encourage individuals and communities to take action to preserve this precious resource.

“Water is essential for all life on earth, and we are proud to partner with Netafim and Green Valley Estate to promote responsible water usage and conservation,” said Jessica Prim, the GRBI’s marketing co-ordinator. “This initiative aligns with our mission to restore and protect our natural environment and to contribute to a healthier planet for future generations.”

Netafim, a global leader in drip irrigation solutions, brings their expertise to this partnership to help promote water preservation and conservation. “At Netafim, we believe that every drop counts, and we are proud to support the GRBI’s efforts to raise awareness about responsible water usage and conservation,” said Martin Bahnemann, an agronomist of Netafim who works closely with the GRBI committee. “Through this partnership, we hope to encourage individuals and communities to take action to preserve this precious resource.”

Green Valley Estate, a residential hub located in the heart of the GRBI, is also a partner in this initiative. Named for the swathes of unspoilt nature on their doorstep, Green Valley Estate has recreational use of a portion of the GRBI on the northern edge of the estate. Cycle and walking trails and a dam and fitness park are planned for the residents. Leisurely summer days spent on the riverbank while children chase butterflies and run free… this is what living green is all about. After all, if you border the greenbelt that is part of the GRBI, you want to preserve and conserve the green valley that makes Green Valley Estate the place where people live and play in nature’s garden.

The developers believe that green begins at grassroots level, and that’s the foundation of Green Valley Estate. Combining the latest green building techniques with traditional building methods, precast elements and premanufactured components are just some of the cutting-edge systems used in the construction. They have implemented a range of sustainable water usage practices on the estate, and they believe that their actions can make a difference. “At Green Valley Estate, we recognise the importance of responsible water usage, and we are proud to support the GRBI’s efforts to promote water preservation and conservation,” said Matthew Larsen, developer of Green Valley Estate.

In addition, and as part of the initiative, the GRBI is launching a school water conservation poster challenge in partnership with Curro Academy Mbombela. Learners are invited to submit posters that promote responsible water usage and conservation. The winning poster will be featured in a local publication and the winning group will receive a prize for their school.

This water preservation and conservation initiative aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 6, which calls for clean water and sanitation for all. By promoting responsible water usage and conservation, we are contributing to a more sustainable future and a healthier planet.
