The competition started around 08:00 and finished at 15:30.
It was a challenging but fun way to spend the day and compete against other schools.
Marambane Primary School in Lydenburg also competed with other schools from Mpumalanga.
This was highest participation in a national Gold Panning Championship since 2011 in Pilgrim’s Rest.
Many of the competitors were from the local community, but others joined in from Gauteng and Limpopo and overseas.
