The MEC for the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Vusi Shongwe, has vowed to the residents of Mpumalanga that law enforcement will not allow the EFF to disrupt the province during its planned national shutdown.
He outlined the plans of the province to deal with the shutdown and said they have been preparing since March 17 and are ready.
At Hoërskool Bergvlam he addressed a parade consisting of various branches of law enforcement, along with security companies, CPF members and emergency service members.

An interdict by the DA had been granted by the Gauteng High Court, prohibiting the EFF from the following:
- Shutting down schools, retail stores, businesses, trade and public roads.
- Calling for, promoting, instigating or organising the blocking of roads or railway lines, and/or the shutting down of schools, retail stores, businesses, and trades.
- Organising or participating in, or inciting others to organise or participate in any unlawful conduct and/or unlawful protect action.
- Inciting violence.
The interdict did not, however, declare the planned shutdown illegal.
