Riverside CID gets involved in Human Rights Day

The theme for this year's Human Rights Day on March 21 is #LeaveNoOneBehind - Walk for Your Rights. The Riverside CID is sticking with this theme and has chosen to join hands with local NPOs, providing it the platform to showcase its services.

Riverside CID, in partnership with LifeLine Nelspruit and Eduvos Mbombela, has joined hands with local non-profit organisations (NPOs) for Human Rights Day to participate in this year’s theme, #LeaveNoOneBehind – Walk for Your Rights.
The exhibition held at The Grove Shopping Centre on March 10 was aimed at giving the local NPOs an opportunity to market their services and for the community to come together and learn more about the essential work carried out by them.

Visitors had the chance to interact with representatives from each organisation and gain insight into the different services they offer, from counselling and support to education and advocacy. “LifeLine Nelspruit is available to take on corporate clients and have a dedicated team that is able to facilitate employee wellness programmes,” Annriette Slabber, director of LifeLine Nelspruit, said.
She said there has been an increased need and responsibility on employers to ensure that mental health and emotional wellness of their staff is a priority.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with these NPOs to celebrate human rights and the vital work they do in our community,” said Jessica Prim, marketing co-ordinator for the Riverside CID. “Their dedication to improving the lives of those in need is truly inspiring, and we hope that this event will raise awareness of their services and encourage more people to get involved and support their work.
“As a CID, we care about the well-being of the community in which we operate, and we hope that interventions such as these will make a difference both for the NPO and the community.”

“At Eduvos, we believe in complementing our educational syllabus with life skills and equipping our students with all the tools to be able to navigate their way through society in a happy and healthy manner,” the academic and student experience manager at Eduvos Mbombela Campus said.
“We are called as South Africans to remember those who worked tirelessly for the transformation of our country to an open and democratic society based on human dignity, equality and freedom. Our Human Rights are expressly protected in the Bill of Rights, which is part of the country’s Constitution.”
