Local is lekker with Innibos and the Ultimate Kasi Experience

The goal of the Ultimate Kasi Experience in collaboration with Innibos is to revive good old kasi traditions, as well as create an opportunity to share a typical South African culture.

Kasi vibes to celebrate a year of arts, music and comfort food, is the theme of the Ultimate Kasi Experience, in collaboration with Innibos and Urban House Bistro, on December 10.

With a line-up of musicians, stalls and the best à la carte kasi menu, the focus is on a relaxing get-together with family and friends. The cover charge is only R50, and the doors open at 11:00.

Divine Mlambo, the organiser, said the goal is to revive good old kasi traditions, as well as create an opportunity to share a typical South African cultural experience through comfort food and local art.

“Kasi embraces the community spirit of caring through sharing comfort food and one’s talents. We want to create a family-friendly space where different cultures can meet and get to know one another better.”

The menu comprises traditional fare like chicken feet (mahotwane), chicken gizzards (tingingila), “road runners” (kwere-kwere), morogo, tripe (mogodu) and samp.

Artists on stage include local sensation Mary Jane, SA Idols participant Dudlu KaDlamini, Gugu Pash, who is well known for her Afro-pop, hip-hopper Frisco Freezy and Bongeka, who will entertain everyone with her rhythm and blues.

The new kids on the block are 12 Note, an all-girl band from Meridian College, whose debut single will be released during the Ultimate Kasi Experience.

There will also be stalls by local visual artists and entrepreneurs, ideal for some early Christmas shopping and supporting local creatives. There is still space for some stalls. More information available from Divine on 073 450 3778.
