UPDATE: 3 escaped lions caught and returned to Kruger National Park

SANParks still does not know from where the lions had escaped, but is happy that they were returned unharmed.

Lions that had strayed from the Kruger National Park on Friday, were captured on Monday and returned to the park.

Ike Phaahla, SANParks’ spokesperson, said they had received reports from Mkhuhlu community members regarding roaming lions and a search was launched. “After three days the lions were found in thick bush near the Sabi Sand Reserve. They were darted and safely returned to the Kruger on Monday November 14,” he said.

Phaala said they do not know from where the lions had escaped.

“We happy that they were returned unharmed. We believe that they did not harm anyone or eat people’s livestock,” he said
