SANDF members discover erection contraband worth R223m

The tablets were found hidden in a truck.

On October 17, members of the South African Defence Force (SANDF) intercepted a cargo truck travelling from Mozambique to the Republic of South Africa through the Lebombo Port of Entry.

The truck was carrying maize bran, but upon searching the vehicle, SANDF members discovered that underneath the bran there were 107 boxes containing Sildenafil Citrate tablets under the brand Cobra-120, a male erection tablet. The pills are also used to assist with premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction.

According to Brigadier General Andries Mokoena Mahapa of the SA Police Service (SAPS), the driver of the truck was arrested and the truck was confiscated.

The contraband is valued at approximately R223m.

The SAPS chief of joint operations, Lieutenant General Siphiwe Lucky Sangweni, and the general officer commanding Joint Operational Headquarters, Major General SG Hlongwa, extend their appreciation to their hardworking, diligent and patriotic members.
