Two accused of Hillary Gardee’s murder apply for bail

The two accused appeared in court on Tuesday October 18, and the matter was postponed to next Tuesday, October 25.

Two of the four men accused of the brutal killing of Hillary Gardee appeared in court on Tuesday October 18, bringing bail applications with them in the hopes of being released from custody.

Sipho Mkhatshwa (39) was previously denied bail by the same court, the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court, and based his fresh bail application on new facts.

“The court heard his application and the matter was postponed for it to consider whether the facts placed on record were indeed new,” said the Mpumalanga

National Prosecuting Authority’s spokesperson, Monica Nyuswa. His matter was postponed to October 25.

Meanwhile, Philemon Lukhele’s (47) bail application was unable to proceed, as the magistrate dealing with the matter was unavailable.

Lukhele had previously abandoned his bail application when he was first taken into custody. Lukhele’s case was also postponed to October 25.
