Rugby Legends make massive donation in Lowveld

With donations and assistance coming in from all over, including Joubert & Seuns and its suppliers, SA Harvest, OneFarm Share and many others, there was over 20 tonnes of donations to go around.

A second visit to the Lowveld saw the SA Rugby Legends touch hearts from Mbombela to Lydenburg and Waterval Boven.

Players who currently form part of the organisation and who made the trip to the Lowveld included Quintin Geldenhuys, Sam Gerber, Piet Joubert, Corné Steenkamp, Marc Watson, Jacques Muller, Warren Brosnihan, Mac Masina, Ryan Kankowski, Neil Cole, Ian McIntosh, Brent Russell, Hentie Martens, Keegan Daniel and Sacha Marot.

The group started off their day at Ngodwana Rugby Club where a coaching session took place with Matsulu and Ngodwana rugby clubs.

After the senior players had their turn, there was also a kids coaching clinic with about 100 young players.

With the coaching done and dusted the team made their way to Joubert & Seuns Padstal where the real work started.

Parked there were three trucks and one bakkie with a trailer, all headed to various organisations in need all over the Lowveld.

With ex-Springbok coach, Ian McIntosh and Terence Chapman keeping a firm hand on the collection of ex-players, the loading of the trucks went as smooth a passing a rugby ball.

The was even a line-out staged with a can of Ricoffy at one stage.

With donations and assistance coming in from all over, including Joubert & Seuns and its suppliers, SA Harvest, OneFarm Share and many others, there was over 20 tonnes of donations to go around.

This included fresh produce, toiletries and various other items from the beneficiaries’ wish lists.

The beneficiaries were Huis Betlehem, Wenakker Lydenburg, Silwerdae Old Age Home and Healing Wings.

Ex Springbok coach Ian McIntosh also lends a hand.

Chapman said their organisation enlists the help of ex amateur and professional rugby players to assist with their objectives. These include coaching, food distribution, charity golf days and any innovation around rugby, including marketing and betterment.

Players have a line-out that saw the Ricoffy rugby ball eventually finding its place in one of the trucks.
