This event aids women in need of sanitary products. Charlene Coetzee established it after the success of the Lydenburg Heritage Race in 2016. “I needed an event to boost charity awareness. People can donate sanitary products and have a good time at the same time,” said Coetzee, owner of Terra Events and Aqua Terra Guest House. Runners, walkers and mountain bikers are welcome to join in the fun. The Gustav Klingbiel Nature Reserve will provide enjoyable routes to one and all. The Women’s Day of Hope takes place on Saturday October 9 from 07:00. There are two entry fee options: R50 plus a women’s sanitary product or R80 without a product. Card facilities will be available.
All products will go to underprivileged women and girls in the area. The first 300 entries will receive a free “Hope” buff. People will only qualify for one if they have donated a sanitary product. There will be several lucky draws at 10:00. Participants need to be at the Hope Race’s endpoint at 10:00 to be eligible. Local churches will sell food and drink. The various route profiles are available on the Terra Events Facebook page. Participants can repeat a route as many times as they want to as this is not a race. “Dress up, get your work colleagues involved or enter all your family members. Just come have some fun and spread hope,” said Coetzee. The entry rule is no mask, no entry. Covid-19 regulations will be applicable.
