Guest house co-owner arrested for alleged fraud and assault

He has since been released on bail.

Johan Visser, one of the co-owners of De Ja View Guest House in Mbombela, was arrested on June 23 and August 17 respectively on charges of assault and fraud.

Visser has had multiple court appearances in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court with the latest being on September 17 for the assault case. The case was postponed to November 19 for possible mediation.

The fraud case is not yet ready for trial and the police have been given more time to investigate the allegation.

Magistrate Susan Monaledi cited ‘further investigations’ as the reason for her postponing the case to October 6.

She authorised Visser’s release on bail of R1 000 on condition that he refrains from contacting the complainant, Isak Jacob Viljoen. Visser has no previous convictions.

When probed for details leading to Visser’s arrest, National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Monica Nyuswa, provided the publication with copies of the charge sheet. It does not, however, indicate which events led to Visser’s arrest.
