Hi-Tech teaches stranger danger

Hi-Tech's visit to the schools coincided with Casual Day.

Hi-Tech superheroes visited two Mbombela preschools last week, spreading joy to the delighted children as well as teaching them the importance of stranger danger.

With Batman, Spiderman, Superman, Supergirl, Batgirl and Harley Quinn in tow, Hi-Tech Security operations manager, Callum Mac Pherson, who introduced himself as Oom Rooibard to the children, visited SAVF Cecilia Van Wyk Dagsorg and Kabouterland Pre-Primary Creche on Friday morning (September 3).

Mac Pherson said the visits coincided with Casual Day this year (September 3).

Casual Day is South Africa’s leading fundraising and awareness campaigns for persons with disabilities by the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD), with this year’s theme being “courage and kindness”.

The superheroes arrive.

Mac Pherson and his band of heroes addressed the children about the importance of not speaking or interacting with strangers and calling the police should they feel they or their parents are in any danger.

Some of the teachers also encouraged the children to learn the emergency number of Hi-Tech and to call the security company if they could not reach the police.

Fun was had by both the children, teachers and the heroes alike and the children were given an important lesson in keeping safe.
